Tom is the newest partner of Clark, Goldberg & Madruga. He began his career representing manufacturers of pharmaceuticals, medical
devices and chemical products for a national defense firm in Santa Monica.
Thereafter, he worked for a specialized labor firm that provided exclusive
representation to public agency labor unions throughout Southern California. In
this capacity, Tom represented police officers in a wide range of disciplinary and
administrative proceedings and appeals. Tom has also specialized in the areas of
contract and construction law providing representation to several Southern
California School Districts for public school modernization projects.

(2004-present)
- Responsible for handling all aspects of litigation for the firm's complex
litigation practice. Matters include aviation law, product liability,
general litigation, real estate and commercial business practices
- Primary handling attorney for general liability matters, complex aviation
cases and catastrophic losses. Responsibilities include discovery, fact
and expert depositions, expert development, trial preparation and trial
assignments
Orbach & Huff LLP: Los Angeles, California
(1997-2004)
- Began with firm at its inception in 1997. As senior litigator,
represented numerous public agencies and school districts statewide for
business, contract and construction related matters. Responsibilities
included management of all construction litigation matters, product
liability matters and injury related cases in state and federal court from the
initial evaluation through the complation of trial.
- Responsibilities also included the supervision and management of litigation
support staff, directing all aspects of investigation and discovery, retaining
and developing expert witnesses, taking and defending depositions, drafting and
arguing discovery and dispositive motions, and conducting arbitrations and
mediations
Silver, Hadden & Silver: Santa Monica, California
(1996 - 1997)
- Provided specialized representation to labor unions for police and fire
departments throughout Southern California. Responsibilities included
representing police officers and public employees in wide array of employment
disciplinary and grievance matters ranging from suspensions to termination
- Represented clients for all aspects of internal affairs investigations,
employment Skelly hearings before the city managers, city and county
counsel, including the handling of all administrative appeals. Primary
responsibilities also included the representation of policy officers involved in
shootings and use of deadly force.
Dickson, Carlson & Campillo: Santa Monica, CA
(1991-1996)
- Associate for defense firm specializing in national product liability
litigation for multi-national corporations and manufacturers of pharmaceutical
products, medical devices, mechanical implants and toxic chemicals. The
defense trial team in the Stealth F-117 Bomber Lockheed Consolidated
Litigation involving injuries claimed by 435 aerospace workers and
participated in the test trial lasting six months
- Served as subrogation counsel for the prosecution of catastrophic losses to
Fortune 500 companies. Responsibilities included independently managing
cases and reporting to in-house counsel and executives of national corporations;
taking and defending depositions of parties, witnesses and experts; interviewing
and retaining expert witnesses; drafting and arguing legal motions and
memoranda; negotiating settlements and conducting mediations; responding to all
aspects of written discovery; second chair trial experience

Significant Representations
- In 2002, successfully represented a 68-unit condominium Homeowner's Association
against a Developer for product defect and negligence claims which resulted in a
$3.3 million settlement on behalf of the association;
- Successfully litigated a product liability and design defect wrongful death case
on behalf of the estate of the decedent against a large boat manufacturer which
resulted in a settlement during trial of $925,000.00. The case was featured in
the Verdicts & Settlements, April 30, 1999 and July 16, 1999.
- Member of the defense trial team in the Lockheed Coordinated Litigation
Proceedings involving 425 plaintiffs seeking multi-million dollar claims for
alleged injuries from exposure to chemicals and solvents during the development
and construction of the F-18 Stealth Bomber.
- Successfully prosecuted and defended multi-million dollar construction and
contract claims behalf of several Southern California School Districts related
to the Public School Modernization Program.
- Successfully represented a six week old infant against Cedars Sinai Medical and
obtained a favorable settlement for third degree burns received during a routine
operation.
